“I wanted to visually represent the loss of rainforest in a way that tries to convey the impact. By removing 20% of the text, the sentence ‘TWENTY PERCENT OF THE AMAZON RAINFOREST IS ALREADY GONE’ becomes difficult to make sense of. This works for me because the destruction of the rainforest doesn’t make sense.
I hope this design confronts people into thinking about what is being lost and what a large proportion of the rainforest that really is.”
One of the finalists of our #WearYourArtOnYourSleeve illustration competition, Thea Killeya chose to focus her design on the increasing destruction of the most iconic rainforest on Earth; The Amazon. Visually representing this loss of rainforest in a way that conveys the scale of the impact, Thea’s design is also available as a tote bag or print.
Perfect for making a statement.
